Local government plays a central and indispensable role within the government system and is the level of government closest to the people. Our local councils are the backbone of society and give people a say in matters affecting their local area. Those who work in the 537 councils in Australia are there to tirelessly serve their local communities and strive to make life a little better. NEXA is looking forward to recognising an outstanding Council staff member in this year’s National Local Government Customer Service Network’s Customer Service Individual of the Year Award at the upcoming 2018 National Conference and Awards.

For the past 7 years, NEXA has partnered with the National Local Government Customer Service Network (NLGCSN) who hosts this Conference and Awards, and is proud to continue this important relationship in 2018.

Established in 1995, the Network’s mission is to support customer service professionals who work in the Australian Local Government sector. They are committed to the development of people, technology, systems and standards to improve customer service for both local government’s internal and external customers.

The Network understands the importance of recognising, rewarding and showcasing the achievements of customer service professionals in Councils and in 2015 launched the prestigious National Local Government Customer Service Awards. Later this year NEXA will be involved in judging the submissions and is looking forward to awarding the prize at the Awards ceremony, which forms part of the annual conference.

This year’s conference is taking place from 17-19 October 2018 in Brisbane, Queensland. The 150+ delegates from Local Councils country-wide will be enriched through case study presentations and workshop sessions. The key outcomes for delegates to take back to their Councils include understanding their style of engagement and equipping their teams to think outside-of-the-box to facilitate innovation and reconnection. The delegates will also be treated to an inspirational Keynote session from Steven Bradbury, a Winter Olympic Gold Medalist.
